Chaunce Troy Cartledge Sr. (Troy), was born in Washington, DC, in 1965. He later moved to Prince Georges County, Maryland. While attending Prince Georges County schools, Bladensburg Vocational was where Troy was first introduced to working with sheet metal.
After high school, Troy joined the Marine Corps and did a tour of duty in Pohang, Korea, and Okinawa, Japan. After serving his country for four years, he was honorably discharged and used military funds reserved for college to attend Lincoln Technical college where he graduated in 1988.
Troy worked at John C. Flood during the day and Hechingers (now Home Depot) at night to support an apprenticeship income until he had enough experience to obtain a Maryland journeyman license and land a service technician job with Croppe Metcalfe in College Park, MD. While working at Croppe Metcalfe, Troy tested for the Maryland Master and has been a licensed Master in AC and Heat since 1995.
In August 1999, Troy moved to Calvert County and began serving the community with his own HVAC company, Air Pyramid Service, which was initially based in Largo , MD. In April 2000, he was married and is the proud father of two boys, ages 10 and 13. In 2004, his company relocated to its current location at 14800 Pratt Street in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Troy is also a dedicated basketball coach of eight years for a nonprofit youth organization, the Southern Maryland Heat AAU Boys Basketball, which is based in Southern Maryland.
